Hey Capital District Key Clubbers,
Key Club International's New Service Partner Liaison is the Thirst Project, and they will be in the Capital District Area, for their free school tour in October from 17th-21st!
Thirst Project is the worlds largest youth water organization. As Key Club International's newest service partner, they exist to build freshwater wells in developing countries through the education and activation of students. This year, Thirst Project will travel across the country speaking to middle school, high school, and college students about the global water crisis on their school tour. Thirst Project would LOVE to visit your school and share more about the global water crisis. Thirst Project is also running a campaign with Key Club International in the month of January, so stay tuned for more information on that.

What is the Global Water Crisis?
Currently, there are 663 million people in the world who do not have access to clean water. This means that communities all over the world, women, and children walk for miles every day to collect dirty water from whatever standing water source is available to their rural communities.
Open, unprotected water sources like rivers, ponds, and swamps are shared with animals that both drink and defecate in the same water source that humans are forced to drink from and this is often the only choice people have.
Drinking from these contaminated water sources causes people to get easily-preventable waterborne diseases; diarrhea and dysentery alone kill more children under five than AIDS, malaria, and all world violence COMBINED (including war).
