The Governor’s Project is an annual project chosen by the District Governor to support a cause that they are passionate about. This year’s Governor’s Project chosen by our Governor, Erina Haque, is called Expanding Equity. The goal of this project is to improve on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives within the Capital District, to raise awareness to DEIB, and to take action against these issues. The projects’ initiatives will take place on both the district and club level to make the Capital District of Key Club International a safe and welcoming space.
Implementation of this project has already began on the district level with DEIB training, a new language service taskforce, and more! On the club level you can participate by performing service that relates to DEIB: educating members about DEIB, hosting a cultural potluck, celebrating heritage months, etc.
Another great way to participate in the Governor’s Project is by partnering with, volunteering at, or donating to a DEIB organization. We have compiled a directory here that contains information on various organizations that support DEIB. Once you or your club have completed service, make sure to report the work you’ve done using the Google form to receive recognition at DCON!
