Applying for awards at District Convention is a great opporitunity for members and clubs to be recognized for their hard work in serving their homes, schools, and communities in the past Key Club year; especially during this past year with the effects of COVID-19. Every member and club should apply! Individuals cna nominate themselves or their club, officers can nominate each other, as well as they club, and Kiwanis Advisors/Faculty Advisors can nominate students or their club. Everyone else is welcome to submit nominations on behalf of themselves, someone else, or their club as well!

Guidelines
- To apply for awards, all applicant members and applicant clubs must be in good standing with the Capital District and Key Club International.
- There is no limit to the number of awards for which you can apply, but you must apply for each award individually.
- The Capital District Administrator, Governor, or Awards Committee may disqualify any applicants for cheating, plagiarism, providing misleading or insufficient details, false signatures, and other related violations.
- Award winners will be announced at District Convention.
The following award applications and all related materials are due by the aforementioned deadline. Please read this information carefully!
Documentation:
All Outstanding Award applications MUST be completed online using the designated portal and including the appropriate documentation. Documentation may be submitted as a Microsoft Word document, photo, or PDF.
Letters of recommendation and the certification page may either be attached to the application or emailed directly to [email protected]. No mailed letters will be accepted.
All letters of recommendation must have a scanned written signature.

Qualifications:
Key Club of the Year:
A club may not win this award two years in a row.
Best New Club:
Any club chartered since June 1, 2018 is eligible for this award. Clubs must have been in good standing this entire period. A club is technically eligible at two district conventions, but may only win this award once.
Most Improved Club:
Eligible clubs may not have been awarded Key Club of the Year or an Outstanding Officer Award at the 2018 District Convention.
Outstanding Club Member:
To be eligible, the member may NOT serve on the board of officers except as a committee chair.
Key Club of the Year:
A club may not win this award two years in a row.
Best New Club:
Any club chartered since June 1, 2018 is eligible for this award. Clubs must have been in good standing this entire period. A club is technically eligible at two district conventions, but may only win this award once.
Most Improved Club:
Eligible clubs may not have been awarded Key Club of the Year or an Outstanding Officer Award at the 2018 District Convention.

Oratory Contest

Essay Contest
This prompt will be revealed at DCON in March! Any Key Club member attending the convention may participate in this contest. Participants should report to the assigned hotel conference room at the time designated in the convention program book and convention app.
Talent Contest
Students have the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of their friends and other Key Clubbers at DCON! Key Club members interested in participating in the Talent Contest should sign up at the Awards table on the first day of DCON (Friday, March 13) and report to the assigned hotel conference room on Saturday (March 14) as designated in the convention program book and convention app. Participants will be given their assigned audition slot at this time.
