DCON 2017 Recap:

Thanks to everyone who joined us at our annual Capital District of Key Club Convention on March 17th-19th in Baltimore, Maryland!
At DCON, Key Clubbers had the opportunity to meet hundreds of Key Clubbers from around the district, attend engaging workshops, explore Baltimore, watch a talent show, and vote on next year's district officers! Read a little about the 2017 DCON below.
After arriving at the convention, Key Clubbers participated in opening session with a giant crowd of enthusiastic Key Club members dressed up in crazy costumes, Parade of Checks, where club representatives march to the stage to report the amount of money their club has raised for The Eliminate Project, and even got to watch a hypnotist show!
On the second day, members got to meet the candidates for the executive positions for the 2017-2018 District Board. After listening to each of the candidates speeches during caucusing, all Key Club members had the opportunity to attend workshops. Whether it be how to plan a large event, or manage time and stress, each workshop was super helpful and provided great information for the Key Club members who attended it. Once workshops were over, Key Club members headed over to the Convention Center to have lunch with the Kiwanis Family! We got to hear our immediate past Governor, Danny Inglis, speak as well as the Circle-K and Kiwanis Governor. Soon after Kevin Wanzer, a motivational comedian, took the stage and entertained all of the members through his funny but inspiring stories. When the lunch was over, Key Club Members returned to the hotel to complete two more workshops before Service Fair. Service Fair was a great time for clubs to showcase what projects they have done all year, as well as meet the candidates one on one. The day was wrapped up with awards and a dance!
On the third and final day, voting members got up bright and early to attend the House of Delegates in order to cast their votes on candidates for district office and make their decisions to support or reject amendments. The winners were announced at the farewell session breakfast shortly after, and the 2016-2017 board retired while the 2017-2018 board was installed!
On the behalf of the Capital District Board, we hope you had a fun time at DCON!
